Hi I'm Tiffany

Wife, Mom, Noni to 9 Sweet Grands, the Owner of The Pink Crumbb, and Founder of Think Pink Bakers

I also love baking, building community, reading, DIY anythings, true crime, nearly all sweet treats, and the color pink, of course.

I guess you could say I started out as an entrepreneur long ago...

I started my first business when I was a young mom: a family daycare...

Back then, entrepreneurship wasn't really a thing but I ran that daycare for seven years while my children were small and I loved being my own boss and being able to be home with them. Once they got older, I went back to school and got my undergrad degree in psychology. I really wanted to be a psychologist but life had other plans. Instead I became a teacher and taught elementary school for eight years. I mostly taught grades 1-3 and I loved everything about teaching. My career also allowed me to stay close to my children and have enough time for family.

Fast forward 28 years

Lots of accomplishments but lots of time away as well

As the years went by, I became an elementary school principal and then, later, a director at the County Office of Education writing content courses and leading a teacher credentialing program. I had also earned a master's degree in teaching and a doctorate degree in organizational leadership.

The Pink Crumbb

A complete "out of character" step...

In 2020, I launched The Pink Crumbb. I had no clear vision, no clear plans but I felt a pull to be more available for family. I was so out of my league and my imposter syndrome was at an all-time high but I knew if I was going to open a business, I wanted it to be something baking-related and I needed to give it my all. So I left my career and jumped in feet first.

Struggles and Learning Lessons

Entrepreneurship can be hard...

In the early days, my business was struggling. I was selling custom made sprinkles on the side and making custom cakes. My cake orders were very sporadic and my sprinkles were very time consuming to make. I didn't know how to properly price my cakes and I knew at this rate I would eventually burn out. To be honest, I was losing hope fast that I could create a business that was more than a hobby or a business that was actually profitable.

The Farmer's Market

A complete game changer...

In the spring of 2022, my daughters convinced me to slice up my cake and take it to a local pop-up event. I am definitely NOT the definition of a social butterfly and this was way out of my comfort zone. After a lot of thinking, I decided to give it a try anyway and I sold out of cake slices at that event...which was a confidence booster I greatly needed. From there, I began to attend our farmer's market twice per week and this was the biggest game changer for my business. Not only was I finally earning a consistent weekly salary but my requests for custom orders increased beyond my capacity and my word of mouth grew significantly. I knew without a doubt that I could earn a full-time salary baking from home.

My Instagram Journey

The sharing of tips and tricks

By late 2022, I had attended 51 consecutive markets and my excitement about finally earning a consistent income led me to want to share the tips and tricks I had learned the hard way. I had been sharing my journey on Instagram as well as what was working well and what was finally leading my home bakery to be a consistent source of income. To my surprise, my messages seemed to be resonating with other bakers and I began to form deep bonds and friendships through a social media platform that was bringing us all together.

Think Pink Bakers

Bakers helping bakers...

In January of 2023, I decided to form a baking community on my website and begin offering courses, workshops, resources and more. My mission was focused on a "bakers helping bakers" concept and keeping the costs/fees very low for fellow bakers. I felt that many of the courses that might have helped me when I got started were priced beyond my reach being that I had just walked away from my original career (and that career's salary) and I was trying to earn money through a home bakery, not spend money.

Think Pink Today

The meeting of two worlds...

Today, there are more than 3000 bakers who are a part of Think Pink, either enrolling in individual courses or joining the membership plans. I'm so grateful to each of you who support me and this vision of bakers helping bakers. I hold workshops most weeks on a variety of topics and my passion for teaching/leadership as well as my passion for baking have finally merged.

Think Pink Bakers...Future Plans

Bakers helping bakers helping bakers

My vision for the future of Think Pink Bakers is to have a community where other bakers are also offering their own courses and resources. I am a firm believer that we learn best from more than one voice and I am excited to have other bakers offer sessions in expertise areas I do not possess. Branching out in this direction will be exciting for all of us in the Think Pink Baking Community. If you have made it this far, thank you for reading my story and please feel free to reach out to me any time.
